Quality Associate I position is a position that can be assigned to any of the roles of the below listed jobs at the manufacturing plant.
The primary function of this position is for the employee to rotate between different jobs as business needs dictates- Inspector/Repair or Compound Technician Required training will be given before being placed in a role.
Summary of Responsibility for each relief role:
Repair / Inspector The primary function of this position is to check all tires after they come out of presses, and before they go to Sort-n-Pallet for Defects.
Inspect for all defects using standard procedures and specifications.
Make minor repairs.
Awl small Blisters as specified.
Perform routine checks as required by quality.
Apply labels or identification as needed.
Mark Defects as required.
Check for Bar-code Labels and place on belt with Label up.
Inform proper people of repeating defects or out of Tolerance conditions and minimize defects.
Inform quality Supervision when assistance is required.
Keep workplace clean and orderly.
Perform other work as directed by Supervision.
Compound Technician Primary function of the Compound Technician is to assist in the day to day operations of the Material Prep department by:
helping to eliminate quality problems, helping with procedures to maximize production, helping evaluate new procedures for Material Prep efficiency and quality improvement.
Follow up on jobs assigned which involves all Material Prep operations such as mixing, extrusion and calendaring.
Follow up on compound and raw material projects.
This would include lab work, both chemical and physical testing as well as processing.
These projects will be followed through the Mill Room and into Tire Assembly and Curing to analyze the impact the changes may have.
Must be able to communicate to management and to the people running the plant equipment.
Responsible for incoming CoA's (Certificates of Analysis) on raw material, verifying that the raw material meets the product specifications, and releasing the raw material to production.
Must be able to communicate to suppliers, purchasing, process engineering, and research and development to discuss all aspects of a new material, process, or compound change.
Must understand the safety aspects of chemicals in the plant.
Must be able to mix the lab formulas for production needs, for example solvent, cement and stearate blocks.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
High School diploma or GED required Minimum 1 - 2 years relative Lab/Material Prep Experience Knowledge of lab procedures and test methods Experience with the process and operation of all major equipment in the Material Prep Department Must read, write and communicate in English as it relates to this position & to safety regulations.
Must complete training program and meet company performance standards for the job.
Must agree to wear proper clothes and shoes approved for this job.
Will be trained for this position in-house.

Must have the capacity to perform all aspects of this Category IV, Heavy position.
